The primary win was a breakthrough that no one in the mainstream saw coming. The general win felt like we triumphed over the racism and bigotry trying to sabotage his expected victory. Obviously there was racism in the primary too, but it really dominated the last weeks of Cuomo’s campaign.

This article is hilarious. They list a bunch of objectively true and morally correct things he said, and point at it as if we should be horrified.

Obviously I'm beyond ecstatic that Mamdani carried the day! It was really a life and death election for NYC and we won! Completed my ZetroCard on election day! But as challenging as it was, what comes next is even harder: overcoming immense power and bigotry to deliver affordability for New Yorkers!

I’m not opposed to even year elections, but putting them in the presidential year rather than the midterm would be asinine. Local issues would be lost in the wash and ad costs would undermine the public campaign finance system we have.

Would be curious about your methodology. Was this a strictly quantitative estimate based on some mix of early voting, polling, and historical elections data?

For perspective, this is what sent everyone into a panic (myself included) on Day 1. Just 11% of the eventual early voting turnout.

Small notes:
-I converted generations to approximate age ranges
-I assumed any difference between the sum of the generations and the totals was from voters older than the "Silent Generation" and added them to the 80+ category
-Small discrepancies between these numbers and what's on the BoE website
