However, the response to Citizen's Hotline Request ID: H-22-079, clearly shows a finding related to a look into the records handling practices of Whidbey & Camano Island Tourism. #waleg

The highlighted area in the image below used to read "Open Meetings and Records." They recently changed it to take away the "Records" part. 🤷 #waleg

On the week @thepropodcast.bsky.social unveiled newly unredacted AG’s advice clearly showing agencies were warned of the auto-deletion risks B4 they started deleting 50million of your records each week, today @atg.wa.gov delivered me his latest advice on the same topic. 🤷🏻😅 #waleg

WaTech gave executive agencies a system that does not “comply with Washington State public records law,” but moved forward auto-deleting 50 million records each week. We’ll discuss and make available previously redacted records showing they knew it wasn’t compliant. #waleg #transparency

TRANSPARENCY ALERT: Let’s talk about what the People’s Attorney is actually doing with your right to know. Spoiler: it involves a lot of black ink and "privilege" shields. 🧵Documents incoming #waleg #transparency #opengov

This case is a perfect example of why public records laws matter. Without them, this unethical behavior would have stayed hidden. Sunshine isn’t just about transparency—it’s about holding those in power accountable. #SunshineWeek #waleg

Here is the invoice Sowersby received, along with other invoices sent to other requesters. You will see the line item for the 10% option has been completely eliminated from Sowersby's invoice. #SunshineWeek #waleg

When DFW normally sends invoices for records requests, they include an option to pay 10% upfront to begin processing. But after a directive from Masias, Street instructed staff to send Sowersby a modified invoice—omitting the 10% option. #SunshineWeek #waleg

In a Teams chat, DFW’s Public Records Officer Anne Masias and staffer Keri Street admit their goal: Charge journalist @Shauna_Sowersby an exorbitant upfront fee for one week of Teams chats—hoping it would deter her from collecting the records. #SunshineWeek #waleg

Hey @GovBobFerguson.bsky.social this was recently posted on the WaStateWorkers subreddit. Appears there are some in your workforce who do not understand their responsibilities under the PRA. #waleg

Here are the AG's Model Rules for public records regarding auto deletions. His own rules made clear the risks involved in auto-deletions. How could he justify making a case for the defense of a policy his own model rules strongly warn against?🤷‍♂️ #waleg

Todays press release from the King Co. Council only underscores the need for Gov. Bob Ferguson to clarify why he defended auto-deletion of public records for years. Only when the press was about to publish a story about a $225k settlement did he act. #waleg

In order to see the real harm the auto-deletion policy caused, you have to read the documents @ssowersby.bsky.social links to in her piece. This email to the Dept. of Corrections is stunning to read. It is a comprehensive indictment of handling of DOC's public records responsibilities #waleg

BIG NEWS… This was always the wrong thing to do, and Gov Ferguson’s AG’s office defended it for years. Now he knows that. Now wants to get in front of it, but he owes the people an explanation. 1000’s of records destroyed illegally. #waleg

Some of us are over trying to defend your right to know. Sad that Washington Democrats don’t see defending transparency of their own work as part of the mission to defend #democracy #waleg www.cascadepbs.org/politics/202...

Our founding wasn’t just about limiting governmental power. It was about limiting human access to concentrated power anywhere. We cannot allow this kind of concentrated power by any individual elected or otherwise. This is democratically dangerous stuff.

3 years since the most infamous OPMA violation in Washington State history. No #waleg member has put forth a serious package of reforms insuring the independence of the Washington State Redistricting Commission. #transparency #democracy #vote
