Bringing factories back sounds like a solution, but the world has changed. Modern factories don’t need thousands of workers — they need a handful of engineers and machines that never tire. What’s coming back isn’t the jobs people remember. It’s the automation they’ve never been prepared for.

My first thought was how much poverty and human suffering this will cause around the world, unprecedented cruelty.
