Your book was beautiful, while you understand grief and how difficult it is to forgive and forget - you give examples of how human emotion isn't easy. There is no 'right' answer, how we can only strive to be better.

I also recommend using a mixture of chocolate chips, and cut up chocolate block, as they are 'distinct' forms of chocolate and melt differently, the the chips keeping their shape, and block melting more like cheese.

Sometimes, baking for shorter makes them soft and crumbly, longer makes them crunchy. It's to however you like it, but I usually bake them for about 12 minutes or so with checking after this to see how they're going and depends on the texture I want. This usually makes them soft!

I personally like to let mine sit for a bit if I can, put them in the fridge, but it's a totally unnecessary step and you don't have to. While it sits in the fridge, I preheat the oven to about 180°C. (160 FF)

instructions

mix the sugars together, then add the melted butter and combine. Once combined, add the egg, vanilla and salt and whisk.

After this, simply sieve in the flour and baking soda.
I recommend using a spatula and folding it together.
