Mama of many. Cargo bike pilot. SF transplant, rooted. Related to Parkinson's by marriage. Doing what we can, where we are, with what we have.
Sometimes I'm sad about our impending move from SF but invariably I see something like an oil lamp funded by my $5 latte and feel much better about the whole situation.

4/26/25. Late night pats and scritches for my snobby doggo. Today was dresses and disappointment and surprise adventures and tantrums and dim sun and bar anxiety and biking, all mixed together.

Hunger striking dog is cuddling on my lap so that's something.

4/11/2025 My dog is on a hunger strike but she ate kibble mixed with egg while I sat by her on the couch. She misses our departed guest but he's moving forward with life and recovery. L's flowers are sprouting. These are the good days.

It's 15 minutes after opening at Costco and nearly everyone at checkout has max eggs in their carts.

I understand some people may need them for side hustles or whatever. But generally speaking, this is so emblematic of what makes Americans terrible in crisis.

With deepest gratitude to the midwives and doctors of the Mission Bernal Women's Center, who are not just here for the joy. They are here for all of it, and they were there for me and Ida Rose, who was deeply wanted and is forever missed.

This is not a story that ends well.

Ida Rose was born and died on 2/4/25. Possibly not in that order. At exactly 16 weeks my water broke unexpectedly and suddenly while I sat at my desk at work. My midwife told me to come to labor and delivery triage immediately.

Sounds like the perfect place for a 6-year-old's birthday party. Spot on. May the odds be ever in your favor.

When Abigail Adams said to "remember the ladies," this is not what she had in mind!

Women--girls--learn early to deal with creeps in bathrooms and of all the creeps I've encountered nary a one was a trans woman.

One hour into 2025 and I'm standing up to my 70-year-old father's bullshit, this year is going to be a corker!

But why does it make me, at 43 and miles and miles away, so shaky and queasy?

In case you had the audacity to feel special today, San Francisco begs to differ.

I am at capacity this week and there is a school dessert potluck tomorrow and we had a box of mix in the back of the pantry. I present to you: Christmas cookies.

Everyone's favorite two-weeks-before-Christmas school activity... LITERACY IN SPAAAAAAACE!

I liked that they projected a void for all the overtaxed parents to scream into.

69 years ago today, 4 days after Rosa Parks' arrest for refusing to yield her seat at the front of the "colored" section to a white man on a crowded bus, the Montgomery bus boycott began.

What do you mean, the revolution *will be* on bicycle? It has been for quite some time already.

It's Thanksgiving week, and yet life is hard. It's okay to feel. It's okay to feel overwhelmed. And to live in the duality of blessings and challenge all in one (or two or three or more) tiny package(s).
