First snowfall of the season. The maple tree in my front yard hasn't dropped its leaves yet, but has finally changed colour, and is holding the snow in little leafy-bowls. #TinyJoys #SmallOrdinaryMagic

These aren't all the garden tomatoes in my kitchen today; it's just most of the mostly unripe tomatoes. Some that are more ripe aren't shown; those @judithlt.bsky.social kept at her place are likewise not shown. It was time to pull up those plants & get the garlic in. Recipes, please!

Two trays and a large canvas bag FULL of unripe tomatoes harvested when we pulled out the plants from our allotment plot & my mom's garden. Mostly cherry & pear varieties, but also some larger types such as garden peach, big rainbow, pineapple, cherokee purple, and brandywines, though they're almost all green right now, so hard to tell.

It's catalpa-blossom time. ( #TinyJoys but it's not really tiny, since it feeds my heart in a time when so much of the world makes me want to scream.)
Fluffy piles of white orchid-like flowers against green spade-shaped leaves. Northern Catalpa trees grow as big as chestnut or oak trees here in TO. It's a short bloom time, but amazing.

*we saw THREE swallowtail-butterfly caterpillars on the dill stalks at the allotment
*the red currant berries glowed like small jewels against their leafy branches
* a house finch kept us company while we worked

Lady Jack skeleton's hat looks good with the flowers coming up today.

Well, a few weeks ago it was a beaver in a local pond, and yesterday it was a mostly black skunk on campus. And today I am sitting (briefly) with the windows open in my bedroom, listening to a TORRENT of bird chatter: sparrows, jays, cardinals, and starlings. No pic of them, but here's the skunk.
