It's been a busy week, but today it snowed. I worked on Mom's second Christmas mitt. If you are a knitter, you'll know that it's less fun than the first mitt, but the smooshy gorgeous yarn helps.

Knitting is a subtle act of magic; a bit love spell and a bit protection magic.

Wintergreen grows everywhere where I live, and it is useful for so many aspects of magic: protection, healing, cleansing, money spells... all the goodies.

It also makes a good tea and was used by Indigenous folks to treat pain.

We know that nature runs in cycles: birth, life, death, and back around again, but usually it isn't quite as literal as saplings growing on a downed tree. I love the reminder as nature goes to sleep for the winter that life always follows death.

Okay, well, it's not exactly how I want it (my current candle is dysfunctional and wants to take naps instead of work, which same girl), but here's the altar at present! List of what's in it in the Alt text. It lives on my nightstand and is also where I journal

On the left, altar card that says Rhensung/Cleansing and depicts a bowl of incense before an open window with a view of the crescent moon. It is from the world of Matlock the Hare, which is perfect if you love magical worlds, whimsy, cozy fantasy, and animal oracle decks. 3. To the left of the altar card is a dryad figure I picked up on Etsy. She's nude, appears to be dancing, and has branches for hair. 4. In front of the Dryad is the Pathfinder Oracle from Skullgarden. It's American West/Southwest themed and has deep meaning for me as someone whose second heart-home is in that part of the country. 5. On top of the Pathfinder oracle is a tiny round box I use to store my rosaries and important jewelry. It's black enamel with painted flowers; I picked it up in a street market in Kiev. 6. To the right of 5/6 is my incense dish with I think Nag Champa incense burning upright. I had to modify the little hole that's supposed to hold the incense with a bit of Sculpey clay; I've found having some Sculpey around has been so handy in a million ways for altar craft. 7. To the right of the incense is a little handmade jar candle I made. 8. Surrounding the candle are blue, green, and yellow calcite. Calcite is my favorite stone by far; it has a beautiful smooth feel that I love. 9. To the right of the candle is my current stack of working decks. On top is the Earthbound Oracle, under that is the Wooden Tarot, and under that is the Chrysalis Tarot. 10. Below the main altar shelf is my current working books. Mostly tarot, druidry, and household-related witchcraft 11. Also on that shelf is a bucket of pens and pencils, a few extra tarot decks, a watercolor palette, and some other odds and ends that I just use in my everyday life.

While I'm at it (and because I forgot both tags and alt text on the last post) here is Skullgarden's Earthbound Oracle. This is my favorite oracle; it lives on my altar and it's tuck box has long ago fallen apart.

I finally decided to re-edge my Wooden Tarot by @skullgarden.bsky.social; I'd edged it previously and the color I used faded to an unpleasant yellow, so I'm correcting that to a soft brown. Love this deck, and it doesn't get nearly enough love in tarot spaces. All of Skullgarden's decks are amazing.
