This is an odd rec, but Dolemite Is My Name.

I'm reminded of James Cameron, who has left wing politics but also LOVES sick-ass military hardware. He even designed the coolest sci-fi gun of all time.

I don't think it's even possible to buy the original Prey anymore.

Planetary rings are actually always made of solids (although sometimes that solid might be dust particles). Saturn's rings are 99.9% ice.

Getting 80s anime character vibes from that cheeky expression. Now I want to see a 40k 80s anime.

I love them, but they definitely have a "70s pulp sci-fi magazine" vibe. A lot of that stuff was weird and didn't make much sense.

I was going to say, the first one in particular gives me a real "Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials" vibe. Flipping through that when I was like five is a core childhood memory.

"4. an assassin has an existential crisis"

I like calling this one "guy/gal who's really good at killing people is sad that he/she is so good at it".

Definitely a lot, especially RPGs. Blobbers outright expected you to use graph paper if you didn't want to get lost.

One dungeon crawl I want to give a shoutout to is Dungeon Degenerates. It's not tactical (combat happens in theater of the mind) and is probably too complicated for its own good, but I LOVE the psychedelic underground comix art style and the insane lore.

Loading a VCR. Also related - opening/closing the glass doors of the entertainment cabinets of that era.

Andor feels like war/espionage films and TV shows from the 60s/70s.

The Corbelan IV. Pretty much the Alien equivalent of a old Ford 150 that the local redneck kids drive around. Plus, that interior has amazing set design.

I actually experienced this IRL once. Ran into a coyote walking around a mostly empty parking lot late at night.

I like how they made the elves look in The Hobbit 1977. Look at this freaky little monster compared to the Jackson version.

Back when the CD-ROMs were fancy new tech and games/programs were still pretty small, it was common to repackage a bunch of stuff into a single disc. The publishers would add things "by the shovel" to brag about how many titles they included, without caring about quality.
