Acabei de ler sobre o falecimento da Claudia Cardinale, e me lembrei desse momento inusitado 13 anos atrás.

I finished - at last - editing the new videoclip from Outlaw.
It should be up anytime soon on AOP Records' YouTube account.

The Gathering Mandylion's 30 years anniversary gig 1/5.
What a good time to be alive.

Vacations journal:
Last week I've been to Switzerland, did what any die-hard fan of Celtic Frost would do: paid my respects to Ain & went to Giger's museum.

This week I played in Party.San with Outlaw and saw @tomgabrielwarrior.bsky.social doing his magic again from the 1st row.
Life can be good.

My favourite 50 Metal albums (and some Heavy Rock as well) of the year, or at least the 50 I listened to the most.

Top 10 is in order, the rest is sorted alphabetically.
(I left Schizophrenia's re-recording out to priorize inedit releases)

14. Old Sorcery - Sorrowcrown

Old Sorcery is one of the "strong names" of the so-called Dungeon Synth, but in this album he follows exactly the formula of Burzum's "H.L. Tar Oss".
Also well-known by his predominantly BM project Warmoon Lord, Juuso reached his peak (so far) in this one.

13. Morgion - Cloaked by Ages, Crowned in Earth

Another band I'm the only fan.
I totally worship everything these American Death/Doom maniacs did. Criminally underrated, this guys should be in the pantheon some bands way less worthy are.

12. Filii Nigrantium Infernalium - A Era do Abutre

Here's a band I always say I'm the only fan who's still alive (RIP Leo Feckoff). Pioneers of Portuguese Extreme Metal scene in their early-years splendor.
Raw and primitive Satanic Rock n' Roll inspired by the 80s legendary forefathers.

11. Arckanum - Fran Marder

For real, people should REALLY listen more to Arckanum - a band everyone "knows" but no one really listens to. This is the Black Metal riffing encyclopaedia. This is Black Metal ideology encyclopaedia. This is Black Metal aesthetic encyclopaedia.
Hail Arckanum forever.

10. Evocation - Evoked from Demonic Depths

Before being "contamined" by the melodic sound of Gothenburg, the Finnish blood of the Kenttäkumpus permeated this gem of pure Old School Death Metal hailing from Sweden. Everything here was recorded before 1994, so you know this is the real deal.

9. Funeral Rites - Necroeater

The only full length released by this Japanese Black Metal band. For fans of the first wave, where evil sounding riffs were more important than everything else. This one includes even a Sodom cover for Blasphemer. Fucking great underrated band.

8. Vemod - The Deepening

I guess that a big issue with albums released in January is that most of the people will forget about it by the time of ranking the best releases of the year.
This one might not get into my top 10, but still, what an incredible piece of Norwegian Black Metal we have here.

7. Troll - Trollstorm Over Nidingjuv & Drep de Kristne

Trending topic now is Old Man's Child since Galder left Dimmu after 25 years.
But let's not forget the early years of the former member Nagash, that had this solo project when he was still under age. We can forget The Kovenant instead.

6. Doodswens - Lichtvrees

Talking about female-fronted bands, here's an all-female band (well, they used to be at this time) hailing from The Netherlands. Visceral Black Metal for reverb worshippers.
This band is lead by my friend Inge - great drummer, and even better drinking companion!

5. Pale Spektre - Bereft of Xerotic Layers

How Black Metal should be: all about the sound and evil worship and nothing about social media and lame self-promotion.
Female-fronted German act for those that think that reverb is never too much.

4. Morost - Forged Entropy

For me, there's a limit of how much a Death Metal can be technical and progressive before turning itself into something I will totally dislike. Slovenians from Morost tries this boundary with excellence without ever crossing the line.

3. Guehenom - The Fallen Age (1992-1997)

Tape gathering all the early recordings of this legendary Brazilian Death/Doom band with members of Mythological Cold Towers, Crimson Project and others.
Easily one of the greatest Doom bands hailing from the Global South.

2. Cryogenic - the discography

At first I wanted to recommend their first album, "Celephais", but decided to go for the whole discography.
90's Symphonic Black Metal with some well-known names, such as Unhold (Grand Belial's Key) and Johanna Sadonis (Lucifer).

Fans of Odium will love it.

1. Erytrosy - Incomplete Minds

Old-school Death Metal from Slovakia. For everyone who likes the good Cannibal Corpse (i.e. the one with Chris Barnes), that's the right band to listen to.
