i use both. reaper is much better for recording real instruments, but it works by an eternal free trial like winrar instead of being FOSS

please start with RISC-V assembly and only later use C. it's such a beautiful and easy assembly language compared to the mess of x86; you'll be able to understand exactly what your C or whatever is doing.

oh also. LMMS takes windows VSTs out of the box using built in wine. check that out, usually it even works

LMMS' built in "LOMM" compressor plugin is the best compressor i've used. i wish i could have it on other DAWs
