learning how colours interact with eachother. I need to keep it simple while I level up my skills. Trying to do 10 different things at once and only being able to execute them at a mediocre level is only going to ever result in mediocre art.

Moving forward, any piece I do needs to focus on ONE thing as the primary thing I do. I either do a piece with the eyes as the focus, get that right, then a piece with hair as the focus, then a piece with clothes as the focus, pick a colour palette and make something with that,

It isn't smart to make a drawing that includes scales, animals, person, clothes, hair, lighting, colour etc when I am not even confident in my ability to do one of those things well on its own. I need to do a LOT more studies.

I need to be honest with myself about what I can do. As much as I get super excited about an idea I have, I need to start pulling myself back. When it comes to digital art I am at best still a beginner.

Eyes, oh my I struggled with these eyes. I want to draw anatomically correct eyes from a sideview but I also want anime stylised eyes. There are also so many different ways of drawing the eyes in a stylised way. I need to pick a style I like and practice, study study study.

or even how to accurately draw these and incorporate them onto a base colour in a way that makes sense. Is it something drawn out in the sketch phase? Is it added later? I need to do more clothing studies.

Lighting, my light sources are all over the place, and so are my shadows, there isnt really a clear source of light when looking at the hair and skin together. Clothing: while I was rushing, I also have no idea about the way cloth folds, the way different materials fold,

Things I need to work on:
I dont like the shading technique and process I used. I feel like it is more fitting for for art that you want to look more 3 dimensional and realistic, but for the anime illustration style I'm going for I need something with more cell shading.

Breaking down the forms into simpler 3d shapes helped me a lot more with the perspective and the angle of the way things should sit. Using the programme: I definitely know a lot more about different layer types, like multiply and glow dodge, and that helps a ton!

Hair: I feel like my use of colours is a lot better as well as the overall shape and lighting Face: Definitely feel an improvement here, doesn't look as odd. Form: Trying to draw the snake and body and hands all required me to use boxes and cylinders.

where you have space to improve but also be kind to yourself and notice improvements. For reference I've put in the only other full body render I've done digitally, and that was 4 months ago. Firstly I'll note where I think I've improved:

I'll post the still life line drawing tonight when I finish it! That will be the last of week 2. I really hope this course helps anyone else as much as it is already helping me!

But here are all my practices from week 2! Raw, unedited, uncorrected practice.

I like using the website as everything is laid out neatly and divided into 18 sections. So I have resolved to do one section per week, I've already done section 1 and 2, so I'll hopefully be done in 16 weeks time! Section 1 was more of an introduction...
