Its #invisibledisabilities awareness week!

Idiopathic Hypersomnia for me is being sleep deprived everyday. Sleeping all day is fun but sometimes it feels like I'm sleeping my life away.

HAPPY #WorldNarcolepsyDay !! 🥳

I'm diagnosed with sleepy bitch disease, Idiopathic Hypersomnia! It causes me to sleep around 10+ hours daily. Combined with sleep inertia, memory issues, automatic behavior, etc. it makes for a fun condition 😂😭

11. Brielle and Bear by Salomey Doku 3/3

A lot of the side plots needed more explanation. I didn't like the montage of hangouts that could've been whole pages. At the end they're only "friends". It was a disappointing read for a "romance" graphic. Hopefully the second book is better.

11. Brielle and Bear by Salomey Doku 2/?

Main characters have disabilities and background characters are diverse. But the story doesn't feel diverse. I got characters mixed up a LOT. Hairstyles change every chapter and everyone has the same body type/similar hair styles.

The cover is adorable and I love romance! Sadly, I wish I read a blurb for this graphic! 🙁 I thought it was a LGBT romance! I could be wrong though as character bios in the back don't have genders or pronouns.

11. Artie and the Wolf Moon by Olivia Stephens

NOTE: This graphic is shelved under Teen or Elementary, works for either!

Cute art and an amazing storyline! Queer coming of age with 8th grade woes/not fitting in at school, family ties, etc. through the paranormal world of werewolves and vampires!

10. Tigers Tongue by Olivia Stephens

Picked up because of the pretty cover! Sadly, the art drops in quality. It was easy to mix up characters and the tiger was drawn oddly. The plot was lackluster as well. It had potential to be great if the story got fleshed out more, and the art was clearer.

9. Topside by J.N Monk and Harry Bogosian

From the creators of the webcomic "Starhammer". I loved the characters and the art for this graphic novel 😍 I wish there was more information about Jo's underground world before going Topside. An ok read for teens looking for sci-fi or fans of "Starhammer"

8. HoverGirls by Geneva Bowers

Funny graphic with a lot of anime/magical girl references to find. The art is really cute and works well with the story. A must read if you're a fan of “Pretty Pretty Please I Don’t Want to be a Magical Girl" by Kiana Khansmith

7. We Could Be Magic by Marissa Meyer and illustrated by
Joelle Murray 2/2

Diverse cast and shows the struggles of being a cast performer or model while being Black/POC/fat. A cozy mixed-race romance that showcases working a sh*tty summer job as a high schooler while still having a fun summer! 🤣😭

6. We Could Be Magic by Marissa Meyer and illustrated by
Joelle Murray 1/2

NOTE: Author is not Black BUT the illustrator is! The main character is Black and fat. The author not being Black or POC does show in the writing though.

5. Ghost Roast by Shawnee Gibbs and Shawnelle Gibbs

LOVEDDD this graphic!! Perfect paranormal love story for teens! The art is gorgeous, the story is funny, and it perfectly captures wanting to fit in during high school. I hope that this becomes a series because it deserves more books!

4. You Brought Me the Ocean by Alex Sánchez 3/3

I loved this comic! I didn't know it was a DC comic when I picked it up, so that was a fun surprise. It is a great queer love story that features Black superheroes. An HBO series announced around 2022, but there is no new news on development 😭.

4. You Brought Me the Ocean by Alex Sánchez 2/?

NOTE: "Julie wanted to depict someone with Hopi Descent, and Alex had the perfect personal reference" The team appeared to have done their research. Unsure who they based the other characters on though! Jake and his family’s depictions were ok!

4. You Brought Me the Ocean by Alex Sánchez

NOTE: The author and the illustrator are not Black. The main character is Black, and the love interest is Asian. A side character, Mrs.Archer, is Native American. Thoughts continued in next skeet - 1/?

We read Nubia: Real One, for class and I LOVED IT. I started vibrating out of excitement hearing about a sequel coming in September. The art is gorgeous and the story 💯💯
