Our recommendations to Congress last spring have only grown more urgent: Defend and assert Congress’ war powers, conduct aggressive oversight over the DoD and CIA, stand up for civil liberties, and don’t let this administration drag us into a destructive war in Mexico.

As the exercise unfolded, Trump's “war on cartels” spread violence throughout Mexico, harmed U.S. industries reliant on cross-border trade, hamstrung cooperation with the Mexican government, and became a pretense to further crack down on civil liberties at home.

We’ve seen Congress act as a rubber stamp for multiple administrations that, through unchecked arms sales, have enabled the Israeli government’s horrific war crimes in Gaza. We commend @usprogressives.bsky.social for moving as a caucus to say: no more on our watch.

Fort Bragg, NC is the Army’s largest base by number of troops; Camp Lejeune, NC is the largest east coast Marine base. Active duty soldiers and Marines are at growing risk of being ordered to act against their neighbors in cities around the country.
