Also when I say at least I do mean at LEAST. Art is a skill built from a lot of experience so it is absolutely reasonable to charge more than minimum wage for how long it takes, but it’s never fair to you and other artists to charge under that imo.

Charge at least minimum wage for how long a commission should take you!! If you aren’t sure, that’s a great way to start a portfolio! There’s a million different ways to divide price categories. If you’re just starting I recommend something like sketch/line/color where you increase for each level.

Lots of kids can’t find it in them to care. Could be stress, the constant overstimulation of social media, home life, etc. Kindness, patience, actual accountability go a long way. Giving small wins to increase the buy-in helps. We can do our best but the system clearly needs a larger change.
