I don't like the idea that nonbinary = they/them pronouns, because it doesn't. Additionally, it's an umbrella term that encompasses so many identities. Putting all of that under one third option just doesn't make sense.

I've read multiple futuristic sci-fi books where there was some sort of gender signalling/identification system, either through technology or another way, where there were three options (male/female/nonbinary) and the nonbinary option was automatically associated with they/them pronouns.

#TransRightsReadathon update: I finished listening to Hammajang Luck. Unfortunately, I didn't really vibe with the romantic subplot, which also ended up being a much bigger part of the book than I expected, so it wasn't really my thing. I'm now reading Glitch Girl!, which I'm really liking so far.

i'm currently reading glitch girl! and it's so good. there's something about trans middle grade in verse that really gets to me emotionally.
