Your perception of X being immortal is just a side effect of him being beyond our understanding.
To me nothing is immortal, everything can die.
It's just not entirely clear what X is, and it never will be, so we don't know how to kill him.

I don't know if people understand is why characters like Rouge or Cream may appear when there is heavy focus on a more classic aesthetic
