Slightly more YBWish from the rear but that lovely, distinctive soft shade of green on the back seems very consistent in Hume's.

Both Hume's Leaf warblers are still present on my patch today, within half a mile of each other. Since it was sunny I spent a lot of time trying to photograph them. It's amazingly difficult! I took about 1000 photos and these are a couple of the only half-decent ones. #ukbirding #norfolkbirding

Both Hume's Leaf Warbler still on the patch today. Here are some shots of the second one. Hume's is brilliant species I think - different from YBW in quite a few ways, and such a soft shade of green - I’d like to paint my lounge the same colour 😀. How many must there be here this autumn?

You wait 25 years to find your first Hume's Leaf Warbler then they're along like London buses! Found another on the patch today, on other side of village! It's possible it could be the same bird though, as it was blowing a right hoolie where yesterday's was... #ukbirding #norfolkbirding

Great morning on patch - found a Hume's Warbler, v active and calling along a track at the edge of the village. I contacted some local birders who duly arrived, and as we were waiting for it to reappear a Dusky Warbler flew over a fence and landed at the base of the same tree! Both v hard to photo!

Autumn on the patch has properly begun now. New boy Chris earning his keep... #UKbirding #norfolkbirding

It was literally the only place where you could pitch a tent. Jill and I "slept" in a one person Macpac Microlite. The next day, as we travelled down the road towards Pillcopata we bumped in to Ron and Sue Johns and later realised we were staying with them at Amazonia Lodge and MWC.

Any Bean counters out there? How many can you see? Horsey Rd the other day with timallwood.bsky.social #NorfolkBirding

Great fun! The wide shot is good for the bean counters...

Finally managed to catch up with the Glaucous Gull on my patch, which has been giving me the runaround since we got back from Wales #norfolkbirding #ukbirding

Might look for a lighter head though... #birdinggear

I really like the Benro! £35 on eBay - carbon fibre, as stable as it could be for such a light tripod, has a retracting hook on the central column to hang additional weight on, and extends to 48" (57" with centre column up) so easily big enough even for standing up. Acra swiss too! #birdinggear

Just arrived. Here it is with its bigger siblings. Will test it out and report back. Initial thought is legs are good but ball head is a bit heavy... #birdinggear

Rarer than rocking horse poo on my Winterton patch - only my 3rd BTD on the sea here in 21 years! Many thanks to @jonathanfarooqi.bsky.social for putting the news out so promptly.

Report of a Desert Wheatear on my East Norfolk patch this am, which was then 'corrected' to Northern. 2 of us left the seawatch to check anyway and it turned out the first ID was correct! Highly active and alert, smaller and structurally very different to N Wheatear. Peachy buff rump - which subspp?

Pallas's Warbler on my patch yesterday and today. Not had one for several years. Who doesn't love them?! Also an Olive-backed Pipit for about 3 seconds.

A really brilliant bird, plus a late Cuckoo impersonating a Red Grouse in the heather 😀 #UKBirding

Having had the pleasure of being part of the group who found it yesterday, I couldn't not go back, early this morning before the crowds arrived, and in much better light, to get another look at the fabulous Asian Desert Warbler on my patch! #UKBirding #PWC2024

Brightened it up and cropped as much as I dare. Sadly had to leave it quite early. What a great bird! #UKBirding
