Sigh.

“Hurry up, buy now, Black Friday sales are ending sooooooon!!!”

Seconds later…

“Cyber Monday sale starts now!!!”

I’m torn. The sale of EA is making me seriously reconsider buying Battlefield 6, I just dislike the path that money would take once it’s left my wallet.

Anyone else reconsidering purchasing?

Been working with the beta of @surf.social and I don’t think I can go back to social web content without it. I keep thinking about new ways to build and consume feeds and content, it’s transformative.

Microsoft is shutting down Skype -- that's the end of an era. When we first did the Warp Drive Active podcast, Skype was the tool of choice to record both sides of an episode, we made extensive use of it in our production and obviously for personal use as well like everyone else. Good memories!

Finally got around to ditching my Kindle for a nice new #Kobo Clara BW e-reader. Even though the screen size is a bit smaller, it's a clearer, nicer reading experience. Nice to move away from a US based ecosystem too. #BookSky 💙📚

For those of us who switched over to #BlueSky from that uh... other place... how're ya'll doing?

Just finished "Borne" by @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social. What a great story with really unique settings and characters. I can tell that this is going to be one of those books that I'll be thinking about for a while after I've finished it. 🐻🦑

So I recently finished "Old Man's War" by John Scalzi, to see if I was going to dig further into the series. Really interesting concept, it's nice and accessible writing and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story keeps going from there. #BookSky 🪐📚💙

Have I mentioned lately how much I love the muted words feature of #BlueSky? Ah bliss... :)

What's up, #BookSky💙📚, happy Sunday evening to you.

I've just fired up Old Man's War by John Scalzi, which I hear is quite good. I know it's got sequels so I wanted to check if I should worry about proceeding past book 1, or if the entire series is worth the investment in time. Digging it so far!

Continuing through my read of the Culture series with "The State of the Art" by Iain M. Banks.

A bit of an odd one as it's a small collection of stories rather than a single narrative, but some great content to flesh out the world. 4/5 from me!

So after reading Death's End, I follow up one existential nightmare with ... "Nuclear War: A Scenario" by Annie Jacobson.

It's so amazingly well researched and laid out, Annie Jacobson did awesome work putting details together into a truly terrifying, realistic scenario. A must read.

Recently finished "Death's End" by Cixin Liu, finishing the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy.

In a word: WOW. while perhaps not the most accessible read at times, my god the concepts and story is on a whole new level. I can't stop thinking about the whole thing. Strong recommend!

TV show recommendation: #TheAgency

I really enjoyed this one, solid cast and smart writing. Hoping for future seasons.

I love how many lists are available out there on Canadian products to buy rather than their American counterparts. Nice and timely. 🇨🇦

Rarely do I wave someone off of a movie or a TV show, but I have too much respect for the precious little time we all have have to spend on this earth. Do yourself a favor, skip #StarTrek Section 31 and do literally anything else.

Finished reading "Use of Weapons" by Iain M. Banks. Holy shit, this was a really great story. I've been digging the Culture series so far; the characters and structure of this one was a really compelling experience. Strong recommend! #BookSky 💙📚🚀

Finished The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu today, first full read of the year. Crazy series so far, sometimes not the easiest read but some great concepts. Can't wait for the third book, but I have another Culture novel to hit up first! #BookSky 💙📚🚀
