Fun bit of trivia: during the trailer for S2 of TLOLC, there is a small freeze-frame bonus. During the scene where she notices Eshu following her and Sam, Lara can be seen smiling. At this point she and Sam are traveling together, so that means Lara is smiling at Sam.

So, I've been checking The Last of Us Part 2 Chronological Mode and TBH I think this is a massive improvement but I do wonder if the game truly would have been better recieved if this was the version we got from the start which got me thinking -

So, I've been checking The Last of Us Part 2 Chronological Mode and TBH I think this is a massive improvement but I do wonder if the game truly would have been better recieved if this was the version we got from the start which got me thinking -

Sam is easily my favorite character in Tomb Raider and big factor in that is the Secret & Lies arc that you and @rhi.bsky.social wrote. The scene that truly solidified Sam as my favorite was her speech to Lara in Issue 12 of that arc.

One thing to keep in mind about Sam is that her being kicked out of the series was a result of Executive Meddling. While there's been no official statement as to why she was kicked out later treatment of the character suggests it was Square Enix being afraid that she might turn Lara gay yes really.

Here's the thing, video development is a shit show. Usually what happens is the levels are made first THEN they write the story and we're talking about literally hundreds of hours being put into something which is often hampered by executive meddling and Square Enix kinda made it their life's

That was a result of test players not liking the original ending. See originally Sam did die but most people who played that version hated how it ended as it meant Lara wasn't able to save anyone so it was changed and I think for the best as there was more that could be done with Sam as shown

Didn't mean for it to come across like that, I was merely going over issues I had with the character. Though Sam is my favorite character in the series so there is clearly a lot of bias there but my main goal was to show why Kurtis never really caught on thanks to AOD being rushed out before it was

Sam appeared in 27 comics, was going to be in Rise and Shadow, was mentioned in Dead by Daylight, was going to be in the sequel to the 2018 movie before it got cancelled due to Covid and will be a main character in season 2 of The Legend of Lara Croft.

Just thinking, if Sam makes a return to the games as a proper companion to Lara what alternate outfits should she have. Sam has a basically an unlimited wardrobe in the comics so there's no lack of options for developers to pick from.
