it was more blatant and often slightly earlier in the south, but there's many black historians who are constantly pointing out that the things the south did were happening all over the country. fucking Oregon banned black people in its constitution.

we have to find better ways to talk about what humans are doing with LLMs. the interface is text, but it is more akin to programming than communication. the humans did not "convince" the LLM, and the LLM is not trained like a dog, it is trained indirectly. it's all so annoying.

the specific thing Jeong was calling out is that millions of people have been taught to read by guessing which word makes sense in context rather than looking at the letters to see the actual word. it's terrifying!

we need systemic feedback loops of accountability, regret, and loss of reputation. we have not even begun to experience what a true cancel culture looks like, because the backlash was against the smallest amount of accountability imaginable.
