There are two stories here. The first is that the crazy president is illegally levying taxes on Americans with his "tariffs." The second is that institutions like the NYT are utterly incapable of informing the public about the first.

"By almost all accounts," means those provided by Trump. The president doesn't have legal authority to enact a trade agreement just because he says so. Forcing Americans to pay higher taxes (tariffs are taxes) isn't a win. Trump's tariffs are likely illegal and litigation is pending.

And what about the ailing, geriatric leader surrounded by mendacious aids and grasping family members in the WH now? Let's be clear, the Fourth Estate has propped up Trump for years at the nation's expense. They'll flog this Biden story as cover for their moral and ethical failures forever.

I asked my senators to get on Bluesky and to get louder just yesterday. Luckily my rep gets it. So contact your representatives' offices by phone or email and tell them to get on it. Like it or not, that still gets their attention. You can't rely on social media alone to gauge and apply pressure.
