Cork dork.
Brand new to me! Never heard of the grape before but a most definitely a fan now. Tressallier from the Loire Balley is frickin’ delicious! It’s like Viognier, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon had a baby. Weighty, crisp, zingy with stone fruit and this example had a touch of wood to give it more character.

German night! Can’t remember the last time I explored this amazing and diverse country. Some absolute stellar wines including the Weil Riesling - as pure an expression of what an off-dry version of this grape can achieve as ever there was. Why *don’t* people drink more of this stuff??

Burgundy night! Sometimes you can look at your life and know that you made some good choices… 😁
The Chablis was an unusual style - much more oaky then I would expect but ended up being my fave. Shout out to the Savigny though - the little 2015 that could. Caught it just in time. Huzzah!

By far still one of my favourite champagnes! Not too fruity, dry as a bone, and squishes in so much complexity, it’s the one to beat. Claaass inna glaass darling!

I love the aroma wheel! It’s so handy to help focus your mind on what you’re detecting and trying to describe in a wine. It overcomes the power of suggestion by having too many options, and encourages you to think of the more unusual. I still use it to keep myself from using the same descriptors.

What a tough life… had to drink all these accompanied with good friends and oysters. My favourite was the Pommery (as usual), but the Mailly Grand Cru l’intemporelle came damn close to usurping it in my affections. Such complexity and elegance. Man, I love Champagne - it has that X factor for sure!

An amazing treat for our Thanksgiving table! Even now it was a little young, but bless my cotton socks it was damn tasty! Everything you would hope was there - marmalade, bright citrus, caramel, apricot - I would need double the characters to describe it all. Still has miles to go too. Just lovely.

Shopping for Friendsgiving yesterday. There’s 15 of us - is this enough? 🍾 Have a lovely day for those not working and we are grateful for those that are.

Anybody else ever attended a black glass challenge? So much fun, if not a tad humbling! 😁 Not being able to see the wine really tests your other senses, down to having difficulty discerning between red and white… If you ever have the opportunity to make a fool of yourself like this, have at it!

Had the pleasure of drinking this little gem last night. Have to admit that I struggle to justify any price over $25 on a rose (not sure why, as I don’t blink about spending that or more on a white) but this was amazing! Only available from the winery. Petit Verdot from what I can make out.

Revisiting an old friend tonight with this Lange Family Pinot Gris. The first time I tried this was the 2012 vintage - ten years later and the 2022 is matching up to my memory. Vibrant acidity, peach and apricot, perfect with the shellfish pasta in Alfredo sauce I had for dinner. Great value.

Thinking back to the fabulous wine I found in Croatia. *starts to look at property*
