Spence and Udogie not being top half starting LBs is an insane take

Because we still have a significant talent advantage over many of the teams we're dropping points against. We have two of the best centre-backs in the league, for example.

I totally agree about the midfield. I still think we should be doing a lot better even with those limitations. I also think both Ange and Frank should have insisted on signing a progressive passer, even if their overall qualities weren't perfect. Hackney would have improved us, for example.

I feel much the same

thanks for the kind comment

Holy shit

I don't think we're going to agree on this. I'd urge you to re-watch through an 'is this a front-footed, aggressive performance' lens. I think we got the ball through midfield a *bit* in the first half hour & (esp) RKM & XS lost the ball, but none of our attacking band got it in great condition.

that's a brilliant comparison

Do we want three more windows of signing players that fit *this* style? I don't think so

It changes nothing about the sacking of Ange imo, it was the correct decision

100%

This just isn’t gonna work out.

And what that means is players are always second-guessing themselves. There’s a lack of freedom which essentially stops our best players being the best versions of themselves. And it also must be tedious for them to participate in, since it’s extremely tedious for us to watch.

His justification of the subs, I think, gets to the root of the issue. Which Nathan tried to warn us all about from the very beginning. It’s not that he isn’t a good tactician or doesn’t have some good ideas/approaches. But everything he does, *everything* he does, is underpinned by conservatism.

And, imo even worse, Davies…

He’s first for me

I am absolutely done with Bentancur. A complete coward of a player. Playing alongside a 19yo who’d just made a massive mistake, the ball came to him and he had time to bring it down and have a look around and he just helped it on as if he were Ashley fucking Westwood.

I don’t see creative passing as one of his better attributes, he gets by okay but he’s not a playmaker in the way I’d want one of our CMs to be
