If you're going to rely on "strong assurances" from Republicans then you're stupid and weak and you should resign.
There is only one path to getting Democratic assistance with anything: the House reopens, swears in Adelita Grijalva, then passes an acceptable budget.

We’ve also got to stop imagining that this will all somehow stop and go back to normal overnight once Trump makes some specific key mistake or, eventually, leaves the stage entirely.
We are a decade into Trumpism. Whatever comes after him for the GOP isn’t going to be a McCain or a Bush.

We want to think that this isn’t as bad as it is. We want to tell ourselves another court ruling and the midterms will fix this, put Trump in his place.

Accepting reality doesn’t mean giving up.It means finding ways to help your neighbors & resist the fascist tactics being used.Look at the ways people in these embattled cities are responding to these invasions & understand that there are paths of resistance. They’re showing us how we can all respond
