I'm just here promoting a better place. (Not perfect, but better and very like this place but in the old good ways.)

About the place with skies of blue.

It's pretty amazing. Whenever the owner of this place does something awful, more people show up on BlueSky. (Lots of folks showing up this past week . . . )

BlueSky is far from perfect, but it's fairly easy to make the jerks go away if they show up in replies or anywhere.

Good moderation tools & blocklist options help when needed.

Lots of new users at BlueSky this week for some reason . . .

(I've been on there for over a year, was user #125,000-something. Not there in the earliest of days but early enough.)

Up to you whether you see their presence on BlueSky as good or bad . . .

Jack hasn't been involved with BlueSky for a long time, in case you weren't aware and were wary due to his presence.

(See my other recent posts for more plugs for BlueSky and links and whatnot.)

Blocks are beautiful on BlueSky.
November 4, 2024 at 3:42 AM
Going private as that's the only way going forward to keep blocked users from seeing my posts.

If you aren't familiar with how to do it, it's under Settings > Privacy and safety > Audience, media and tagging > Protect your posts

Blocking works really well on BlueSky as do a variety of tools that really reduce the suck if you have a popular post.

I added 15 more items to my post with a list of items in the current auction that are from my folks' estate (they're the last 15): https://laurel.dreamwidth.org/2325209.html

Or browse the whole auction. Some neat stuff from other folks available too. Ends...

So many unopened wax packs in this latest auction (ends Wednesday).

So many very old sticks of gum! (Ick!)

But also old stickers, cards, and tips on how to win the Tron video game (thank goodness).

Still looking for a home for the wall unit my folks purchased overseas in the 1960s and had shipped back to Minnesota in 1969. Measurements are approximately: 102-1/2" W x 70" H x 22-1/2" D at the bottom, the top portion measures 19-1/2" D.

Piece is located in Mound, MN.

Peacock needs to hire me to advise on what screenshots to use with HLotS episodes. At first I thought they were using TheTVDB's images but something has gone awry since the first day of streaming. (See my screenshots & alt text commentary.)
November 4, 2024 at 4:51 AM
They now have stills with the episodes for season 2 rather than the placeholder generic Homicide graphics they had initially, but the pictures are wrong. (The episode with guest star Robin Williams is "Bop Gun" but they aired that episode out of order may have confused things.)
November 4, 2024 at 3:55 AM
Looks like Peacock changed their main image for Homicide: Life on the Street (first day it was on streaming it was a picture of guest star James Earl Jones). Now it is Andre Braugher & Kyle Secor which makes much more sense.

OMG

Info I need to impart to you as Keeper of the HLotS on Home Video FAQ:

Episodes on Peacock appear to be in production order rather than messed up airdate order— yay!

There are also subtitles! Yay! (Something sorely lacking on the DVD releases.)

Movie is there as S07E023.

While I’m at it I will mention that I would like to sell my parents’ gorgeous chandelier. Who do I know who would like 30lbs of Swarovski crystals hanging in their house? (I keep trying to figure out if there’s anywhere it would work in our house.)
