Max, my heeler and I walk lots of miles most days, I still work part-time, live on 20 acres in the desert of Central Washington State, near Ellensburg. Native plant enthusiast, gardener, LGBTQ friend, political junkie... I block a lot of junk here.
With all the sorrow of the last 2 days, including the loss of a dear friend, these two sunsets seem to express my feelings better than I can.

Here it is fog and hoar frost...and finally an open sky, at night :)

Morning view following a miserable chunk of slop sent over the mountains...I shouldn't bitch because we need snow badly, but this is so wet and icky... :)

This evening the sky was a quiet sunset, pale pink, rose, blue and shades of gray. Walked on and turned for home, came around the corner and looked up from my thoughts and Mother Nature sent a blast to remind me, she is wonderful! 11/23/2025

Pahto (Mt. Adams) in the first picture. Tahoma (Mt. Rainier) in the second. Taken about 5 minutes apart. 11/21/2025 East of Ellensburg, WA.

It was en evening full of color and drama.
The sky danced with gold and red and pink.
Tahoma and Pahto are in these too.

"It's strange how deserts turn us into believers. I believe in walking in a landscape of mirages, because you learn humility. I believe in living in a land of little water because life is drawn together. And I believe in the gathering of bones as a testament to spirits that have moved on." Refuge

Almost winter moods of the mountain...Tahoma on a cold fall day, at last light.

Walking this afternoon, trying to stay warm. It has been howling all day, as only the Kittitas Valley can at times. Cold but sunny. Max let me take a picture for once ❤️ 11/07/2025 and yes, he's 96% Blue heeler.

My lovely Maui Max and I walked in moonlight tonight, since I didn't get home til almost dark. He didn't mind, we finished with 5.29 miles today. 11/05/2025

A few days ago, Maui Max and I were taking the afternoon 2 mile walk, while hoping to get home before the storms got here. The light was amazing...and the storms did come. We got a badly needed .22" of rain! Early this morning there was snow on a lot of the ridges and mountains...

Before sunrise this morning, 10/21/2025, as Max and I did a quick lap up the driveway and back...took my breath away...especially watching the color come so fast in all directions! Why I love living in open land...😍

Last night might have been the last chance to catch the sun dropping behind the edge of Tahoma (Mt. Rainier) and the shadow across the sky. The mountain is 14,411' and can cast a real big shadow at times.

Tonight the smoke lifted at the right moment to let the sun that was setting behind Tahoma (Mt. Rainier) cast a shadow across the cloud/smoke in the sky. It is the dark shadow on the left of center of the photo. 9/25/2025 East of Ellensburg, WA.

Surrounded by smoke but not having to eat it today. Wildcat, Labor Mountain, Lower Sugarloaf all have grown with the high winds today! Yakima, Kittitas, Chelan counties are all being affected. Lots of Level 3s up tonight. All taken from my home east of Ellensburg, WA.
September 26, 2025 at 5:35 AM
Yesterday the Labor Mountain fire exploded with high winds...by what I see from estimates it looks like it grew by 4,000 acres roughly. I had winds at my place gusting to 50+mph all afternoon, early evening.

Sunday nite's full moon, rising over the sagebrush and ridges with clouds underlining it's beauty. Coyotes were singing a lot ❤️ Central Washington State
September 10, 2025 at 6:35 AM
The smell of the sage brush after even this little rain is so amazing! It's cooled enough tonight that I've open all the windows and am listening to rain falling, thunder in the distance, and cool air coming in. Still a bit of smokiness in it, but fresher than AC! Moon shots earlier :)

Just to show what wildfires in my area are like for those of us who live nearby...yesterday afternoon first, last night's moon second, this morning sun rising...Kittitas Valley, Central WA State.
