Saw this manhole for the Catskill water supply in Fort Green Park in Brooklyn.
The NYC aqueduct system is fascinating. it was started in 1840 with the Croton Reservoir. The Catskill Aqueduct first brought water to Brooklyn in 1917. It is 97 miles long and all gravity fed.
