When I was in, if you had a commission you were subject to recall up to age 52 or so even if you only served a few years and didn’t retire. Maybe things have changed in 50 yrs.

I fight back bitterness thinking about how the whole edifice of "norms and customs" plus much of what we thought had a rock solid foundation in immutable law now just looks like a laughable charade and how I'm just one more old, credulous fool. Your way is better - keep some hope alive.
