The broncos had 15 QB hits, 3 sacks, 2 INTs. That context matters. Pack are a formidable team but you play with what you have and hopefully adjust.

Writing does something psychological to me. I am creating intention by writing. Printing out an OmniFocus perspective doesn't allow me to be thoughtful and intentional.

I use the friction of writing it out to index cards to my advantage. It limits the number of tasks to a single card. This provides focus. Don't want to have an endless list of tasks and spent 2-4 minutes trying to choose one to do. Just pre-plan the week, let daily tasks trickle in.

Hmmm.... I don't k ow why there is a URL link in one my posts. Ugh. Ignore.

Whew, finished. I wished BlueSky had an edit button!

Make a new daily note every day. At end of week, prepare new weekly card.

OmniFocus holds my tasks. Calendar gives me notifications of any important tasks on date needed. Weekly Card to focus on weekly objectives. Daily Post-It notes to hold tomorrow's work.

This is how I use paper and digital.

If a new task shows up during the day, write it on the daily note.

Cross off each task done on daily note and weekly card. At end of the day, check off the tasks in OmniFOcus.

Get a new post-it note and transfer any uncompleted tasks to the new note. Stick that new note on top of my weekly card.

Get a small post-it note. This holds tomorrow's tasks. Write date at the top of the note and the 2-5 tasks I want to work on tomorrow. The first task at the top should be the main one to work on. If I only get that one thing done, I would be happy and consider it a successful day.

At the end of the day, look at my index card showing Big Rock, Due work, and Other work. Choose 2-5 tasks. If tomorrow's schedule has a lot of meetings, I choose just 2 tasks. On open days, I can choose 3-5 tasks.
October 7, 2025 at 1:11 AM
Look at custom perspective showing available next actions. Choose a handful of tasks (perhaps 2-5) that I need to work on. A lot of this could be admin work (filing a weekly report) or single one-off tasks that I just want to get rid of.

Write them down on index card in a section titled "Others".

Look at Due Soon/Overdue tasks (custom perspective showing Due Soon and show all remaining tasks).

Write down due tasks (with due dates) I want to work on next week. Add an all-day event to digital calendar to remind yourself to work on these urgent tasks.

At the end of the week, I choose a Big Rock project to focus on. What milestones and progress do I want to make by the end of next week?

Write down words "Big Rock" at the top of the card. List down the next 2-4 next actions to make progress by the end of next week.
October 7, 2025 at 1:08 AM
I use OmniFocus as my menu of available actions to work from. Capture tasks into OmniFocus.

Get an index card (3x5 or 4x6 works for me). This card holds my Weekly Objectives. I use an UgMunk type holder or something to prop my index card on my desk. Make my tasks visible every day.

Hold on. Rewriting my replies. I use a real index card. Trying to gather my thoughts for better focus.

Wow! Is this related in any way to the old Myth books by Robert Asprin?

Yes! I am looking forward to the Planned Date feature. That can reduce my reliance on Fantastical as my time block scheduler! Looking forward to the TestFlight release.

Thanks!

Oh. I just remember Mean Joe Greene and a Coca Cola commercial from back in the 70s. Then there was The Beast Marshan Lynch!

Maybe Greg Stillson is the reincarnation of Randall Flagg and Johnny Smith is the Gunslinger? 🤔

This just happened. Rumors are that Elon is holding his son so he doesn’t get shot. Coincidence? 🤔

The post is dated in August 2011. So let’s throw this out to window.
