Yeah it is quite suspicious. I didn't exactly find the main game lacking in content, but the dlc being this close to release definitely makes it feel like it should've been a post-game storyline.

But yeah I respect Next Level and they obviously do great work, but part of me feels like Luigi's Mansion maybe should've stayed a weird one-off title.

Right! I feel that the Burton-esque crooked architecture makes sense, but Luigi juxtaposed against a semi realistic mansion is simultaneously way funnier and much more surreal, which works in the game's favor

Yeah if I had to guess they might've done initial concepts for a bunch of different starter megas and then chosen the strongest designs among them?

On a side note I was kinda expecting the starter megas to reveal some reasoning why this trio was chosen, but as far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be any connecting theme? 🤔
