It also completely destroys the teaching opportunity for educators in identifying eccentric error: faced with pat, anodyne, literally correct but soulless work, how are they meant to illicit any novel discoveries from their students from said mistakes?

I mean, quite, but as the original thread also seems to indicate, PSBs have a habit of ignoring what can be done with very little, instead sticking to a completely unsustainable doom loop of ploughing big money it doesn’t have into huge Atlantic-facing deals and productions

Fantastic Thread (unfortunate pun). really makes me think there should be space for reevaluation of bringing back something like Play for Today on the PSBs. Something where you can keep the costs down but you can attract writers from across the experience spectrum with invention born out of economy

My Nana used to say “there’s no pockets in shrouds” which is basically the same as “You can’t take it with you”. Weirdly, I was sat on a plane once with an elderly American woman. She turned out to be MAGA but nevertheless offered the evocative alternative: “you can’t attach a trailer to a hearse”
