Very pleased to share the news that I'm now a Lifeboat Coxswain at @SevernRescue. This comes after 3 years of training with SARA Newport, and ~5 years of prior service as Crew with @TheMumblesRNLI @RNLI.

Had a lot of fun this morning teaching Sea Survival skills at Lisvane and Llanishen Reservoir. Huge thanks to Dwr Cymru for supporting their local lifeboat station to run this essential training.

Looking back on what has been an awful week for staff and students of #CardiffUniversity. I find myself turning to the Lord of the Rings; it never fails to bring me hope. We are ready to fight for our colleagues and friends. Whatever the outcome, there is beauty in the struggle. #Cardiff

Work humour is needed more than ever this week. Re-watching a lecture recording and spot my appearance changes notably as the 4hr session progresses. I'm not grumpy, just concentrating! (Do I really look like that?!) The dishevelled look is likely due to my cat, not my students!

En route back from Pembrokeshire after joining Final Year Project students in the field. Extremely impressed at how independently and professionally they are undertaking their rocky shore ecology dissertations - in foggy January no less! Proud (and excited) supervisor!
