I was studying ancient Egypt in elementary school, we learned about a Pharoah who wanted to be female, and made his doctors cut him a vagina. That has been in my brain since I was 12, that if you feel like you're in the wrong body, it's worth risking death and primitive surgery to try to fix it.

If they were talking about the Catholic church I'd be happier, they're larger, more conservative and have done a lot more harm to this country.

It'd be nice if the Times stopped reporting as though his actions were sane, rational, or legal when they are none of those things...
