Got to review Atomfall for @yagblog.bsky.social, and was really impressed. Been a long time since a games world could be considered the most interesting character, but that's what Atomfall offers. That's not even a slight; the character work in this game is excellent. That's just how good it is.

I just thought you should know. A couple of hours into my time in Atomfall, I headed back into Wyndham Village; the games central location. I'd been to Wyndham a few times in passing, not really paying too much attention to it or its citizens, mainly using it to duck out of trouble, or to get onto my next objective.

The future of games discoverability
#NotAnAd #NotSpon Since 2021 (and since the comedian Glenn Moore started tweeting about it), one of my more giddy annual goals has been to complete 100 video games in a year. I've not once come close, having ranked 30 just the one time. I do enjoy giving it a go, though. I won't talk about how I'm doing this year just yet (I'll save that for another piece in a few days time), but the real enjoyment, for me, has come from discovering games for the first time that I'd never have given a go otherwise.

No, I don't think Steven Kinberg's Star Wars trilogy will get made. But I've just learned he produced two Neill Blomkamp films so I guess it's time to rekindle that post-District 9 glow.

Came away from EGX massively deflated. Went to the England women's game on the way home and saw them get slapped. Best I can say for yesterday is this cost me £15 and it was a taste sensation. All three uncles get a congratulations from me.

Heading down to London for EGX. First time I've been to the big show since 2012, haven't been to an EGX event since Rezzed in 2018. So much about this years show concerns me, but these sorts of shows are really important for the future of the medium. Will probably pen a bit about it.

Am going to see my favourite film in the cinema tomorrow and I'm genuinely more excited that I have been for a lot gigs or matches I've been to recently.
