I think I just got so fed up with them pitching Clara as the be-all and end-all of the Companions that it soured me on those series the first time round. It's noticeable that after Clara, the Companions have tended more to be just that, *not* superbeings/major temporal nexuses, or any such bollox.

Trying to distract myself, I'm still embarking on the Doctor Who re-watch. Matt Smith was better than I remembered him the first time round - and I *adore* Madame Vastra and her gang - and even the first couple of Capaldis so far aren't bad.

Meanwhile, over in NYC, Mayor Adams, who I've long thought a camouflaged Republican, judging by his willingness to open his legs for any lucrative building project, is no longer bothering to disguise his affiliations.
Is this really the best that one of the world's most famous cities can offer?

Keir Starmer has never been a happy performer in the media - I've likened his persona in the past to a Thunderbird puppet, and I stand by that evaluation - but his visit to Trump was particularly embarrassing, even, evidently, to him, in its oleaginousness. Truly cringe-worthy.

Me, watching TV tonight: "Oh, that character's quoting a Cat Stevens lyric."
Husband No. 1: "Oh, yeah. he became a Mormon, didn't he?"
Me: (long pause) "Muslim. There's a bit of a difference."

Re-watching 'Torchwood; Miracle Day', and enjoying it a great deal more than the first time around. Perhaps it just suffered by comparison with the excellent 'Children of Earth', which would be hard to beat, but I'm finding it a very tense, well-paced thriller with excellent character interaction.

Got taken to Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake recently.
Made me wish I'd learned to knit, so I could have used the time productively, since it was too dark to read a book...

Well, some of the 'cool kids' over on FB suggested trying this, despite the fact I didn't get along with 'Formerly Known As Titter'; decided to give it a try in a spirit of Adventure.

(Though with my degree of online skills, 'House of Mystery' might be a more appropriate comics-based reference...)
