I take against bands for sure. Longterm affair with 17m. Was there on phone today with 100w on a wire dipole. Had fun - including one station we both worked.

Went up a mountain - bar the last 500ft for 145 Alive. 2 nets and another QSO. But Storm Herminia became a nuisance. Back to sea level and drying out. Fun though! #145Alive #hamradio #amateurradio

3 hours into the peak of Storm Éowyn. Very noisy, a bit scarier than usual. Bits of damage in the homes around the street - we dart around, heads bowed, checking up on each other, helping out. The 2m/70 cm vertical is still vertical for now.

My phone started shrieking at me and here was the message. Scared the wits out of me for a second.

Anyone remember these? As a teenager I bought this one at a rally in County Tyrone in 1983. Just used it to check the SWR on my two mobile antennas in preparation for 145 Alive in the UK & Ireland this weekend. Still works absolutely fine.

Irish Sea Stenaline ferries during Storm Darragh. One Cairnryan Belfast is sheltering in Belfast Lough, the other off Campbelltown close to Arran. One Liverpool Belfast sheltering in Belfast Lough, the other is steaming slowly northeast off Annalong. Glad I’m on none of them.

Hi rest of world. You’ll forgive us if #hamradio operators in Ireland and UK have their masts/towers/poles down just now. There’s a wee bit of a breeze on this weekend. #StormBert

#BBCNews Channel chatting away merrily about the #StormBert to come. Two correspondents Standing rather pointlessly out in the cold in GB. Don’t miss those gigs.

As for the storm…I’ve been listening to it since 0350.

Not sure I should venture out, what with all the snow where I live, and everything.
