I am a little skeptical of the idea that punishment for crime under the laws of this county is being abducted by masked thugs and secretly shipped off to concentration camps in El Salvador or Libya.

But what if it is not the majority of Americans? Maybe a majority of Americans have embraced a fascist ideology of racism, nativism, and misogyny. It has happened before. Why should we assume it can’t happen here? What we see may be the ugly face of the the real America, shorn of its hypocrisy.

Take it up with the United States Congress. Oh, wait.

I realize there may not be much we feel we can do individually, but those of us with the least to fear need to speak up for those who have the most. I’m glad @raskin.house.gov seems to be paying attention. Yanking student visas just because the administration can is not only immoral but also stupid.

But, after all, no surprise!
