Feedback give that the “diverging diamond” was not working for the area - a lot of negative feedback about it. Identified alternatives (currently modeling them) and will be shared at an upcoming community meeting.

Gratiot and interchange stay in their current configuration. Gratiot bridge over Dequindre Cut was built in 1929 and is in bad shape. Will be replaced by this project.

Combined systems (something several cities implemented years ago), is no longer best practice. The waste water treatment plant will no longer have to treat storm water (less load for them). This is not new technology and is being in several areas in this region.

Storm sewer work started about a month ago. Regardless of the future of 375, this is still beneficial and necessary work.

Community enhancements, as mentioned in the framework, includes affordable housing, small business development, etc. - contains a lot of things! Combined with zoning/land use and aesthetic design guidelines, the framework is defined.

A representative from Kresge Foundation says their role is to ensure equity in this project and to help with investments…says “this is more than just a road.”

This summer the project was passed due to community concerns, rising costs (original estimate was $350M and rose to $520M), and one chance to get it right. Says “we need to get this as right as we possibly can.”

Previous NACs have gotten “railroaded” by developers; leaning from other NACs and using learnings to improve the process. Encourages open communication with them.
