AI is diluting higher education, as is online instruction. These will lead to a crisis in higher education as the public will increasingly question the integrity and value of it. Universities will have to ensure robust in-person proctored assessment of learning to recover their credibility.

I'm in New Albany, just across the river from Kentucky. But I would be in the same district as part of Indianapolis. This is nuts.

The FIFA peace price is a visible and outward sign of the inward and invisible dumbness of the president.

I once half-facetiously proposed a revamp of the general education program on my campus to include the Trivium and the Quadrivium. This was in 2000 when what is now the HLC accreditation agency told us we needed a coherent gen ed plan.

The Talking Heads concert I saw was the tour that led to the movie Stop Making Sense. It was an unbelievably good concert.

That really is foolish. But STEM and humanities are not in opposition to each other: STEM students can and should have a robust, well-designed general education that includes plenty of humanities and social sciences, and vice-versa.

A few years ago, memes making fun of "Walmartians" dressed in pajamas were popular. But I wonder if this is class prejudice: I glanced this morning at the REI and Patagonia sites, and saw that flannel shirts were $80-120. Perhaps there's a reason for pajamas in public.

One of the posts is of Smith Rock State Park in Oregon. I saw that last year; it's handsome and impressive.

That is awful!

I was not a particular fan of the Beatles as a 6 year old in 1966 (songs like 'Hard Day's Night'). But as a 7 year old, I loved the Peppers songs I heard on the radio (save Day in the Life). Still love them, but I find the White Album and Abbey Road more interesting now (almost 60 years later).

Praying that these reports are correct and all of this comes out!

A good strategy by the Democrats. By rejecting it out of hand, the Republicans own the shutdown now.
