Maybe a better analogy is someone playing with a wild ape. When playing with the wild animal, you are constantly giving the wild animal space. You go out of your way to not be threatening. Even then sometimes it is not enough for the wild animal, and you get your face ripped off.

I bet that if solar and wind disavowed unions, equality, and the environment, those industries would enjoy the same levels of investment and support AI enjoys.

REAL-IDs were always a way to suppress voters. You finally get a day off during a weekday, wait in line for a few hours, get told that you don't have the right paperwork. Even if you find the right paperwork, good luck getting another weekday off. That is if you can afford taking off another day.

And yes, I realize the ecological harm/consequence of what I suggested. However, now that oil is in the cross-hairs of the Trump administration, there is no oversight agency that is going to stop Trump from using every under-handed tactic to get that oil. Sadly, that oil is destined to burn.

Controversial Take: Maduro should burn his oil, Saddam Hussein style just as a FU to the Trump administration. Either by American or Venezuelan hands, Maduro is on his way out. I don't think that he will abdicate as discussed here: www.npr.org/2019/02/09/6...

In a normal working democracy, sure. My comment was an implication that this administration would not follow the Constitution, and maybe the more relevant document would be the Declaration of Independence that defines tyranny and how to address it.

Those sheriffs that do enforce the public sleeping laws could make a good case to take to the Supreme Court where the conservative Justices will have to argue how the right to protest is preceded by state laws banning public sleeping.

My suggestion is to protest. We have all heard of sit-ins. What if we do sleep-ins. Under the protections of the First Amendment, the homeless could finally get some sleep. It would deter some sheriffs from enforcing state laws banning public sleeping.

If we had a working Congress, he would never been confirmed to the position to begin with. The NYT's commentary says more about the systemic issue than anything else, and we shouldn't lose sight of that.

People should start discussing the option of activating the state guard to monitor ICE operations. Texas Governor Greg Abbott did just that for Operation Jade Helm in 2015.

I really think that we have moved into a new phase of American governance. One where consensus is made not by cooperation, compromise, compassion and facts, but by threats of violence.

Why haven't democratic governors not discussed the idea of activating their national guard units to monitor ICE operations? Texas Gov. Greg Abbott activated the Texas national guard to monitor the routine military exercise Jade Helm in 2015. This is something that is in their power.

I have a weird take: what if the evangelicals elected Trump to jump-start Armageddon? In their opinion, they are the chosen and are destined to be raptured into heaven. What do you think?

To treat a disease, you must understand it. This neglect of our underprivileged is a feature, not a bug. It is conservative's "ability" to decide who is worthy of dignity/mercy that gives this administration space to do what they do.

There are already organizations that work to relocate people (Move to Thrive; North Texas TRANSportation Network; ect.) based on gender concerns. Perhaps we should broaden the scope of these programs to include political concerns?

Supreme Court will allow the electoral map, which will start a gerrymandering arms race across the nation. Perhaps we start discussing alternative ways of avoiding this political takeover.
