Saw the thumbnail changed from the Magritte one I had yesterday and was deeply saddened. It is what it is (unless it isn't).

If an 8 sleep is like sleeping on a cloud, and the cloud is down, you can’t sleep. I think this is on brand.

Not great for employment prospects either for the same reasons.

Used GPT 4 assist. It gave me a template with no name but fired GPT 4 when I pressed it for which employee was fired. It played very coy the whole time.

Jarring to see the HR critique of the anonymous feedback. I want to test perceived feedback this on future emails I have AI write for me.

Always terrifying to meet someone in a leadership position with dependents and no/little life or disability insurance. If that’s how you manage risk for your family…

I like this strategy as a consultant looking at highly compensated roles. There are things you can only learn about leadership by working with them. Overkill and not worth it for most roles.

Had the pleasure of working with good sales folks on the recent purchases. They drove urgency by asking questions and letting me talk about problems. The more we spoke, the more annoyed I got, the more I wanted to fix it, and the more I wanted it now.

Now that I'm in a purchasing role, a free month/timed doesn't give me much urgency. Recent purchases: CRM, HRIS, Legal team, fractional CFO. Winning vendors drove urgency by showing me benefits of a successful implementation and consequences of delays.

I mostly worked for software/service companies. Compelling urgency comes from the buyer. For example, if I want to transition to a new HRIS, I need to make the decision at least 30 days ahead of time, select benefits, etc. If I want the benefit sooner, I have to pull it forward.

Zenefits' support instructions require you to break the chatbot. Unfortunately, the bot does not respond consistently to requests, so good luck following the instructions.

As a customer, I most appreciate customer support and ease of billing (i.e., auto payments). The actual differentiator is almost always geography. If only 1 Internet provider serves my building, it doesn't matter what I think of them.

Remembering the season preview you did with EJ. This season feels like a slow firing for last year's performance. We've now achieved a scenario in which Jerry would be more comfortable committing to a rebuild. Shame it had to take this long.
