The irony here being that one of the reasons Adam Wharton is so good is that he plays more like a Spanish midfielder than an English one!

We needed to be perfect defensively tonight and we really weren’t. Both sides missing key players but their squad depth so much stronger. Hope we can put a performance in on Saturday as we still need to keep putting points on the board

That was more like last season’s Flekken I’m afraid but not sure he can be blamed for the corner goal as Arsenal are so good at blocking in and causing that kind of situation

He has been immense this season, an absolute joy to watch. Real argument for patience with players too, it’s taken two seasons but he looks Eriksen level in terms of quality and speed of thought

Is this a question of tactics or squad depth? Guardiola is about tactics but Brentford being down there would surely be down to injuries and the bench being full of kids. Frank is in favour of 5 subs I believe but needs quality to bring on

Same. They put in the perfect away performance. But it is a problem that we concede 2 every game and they almost always come from crosses (can’t blame KLP too harshly for the second, he’s not a full back and is doing us a good turn there)

This is an important question. They did a review in the summer apparently… Are we training too hard? Is it the intensity of the modern game? If so, we’re going to need a bigger squad, B team making up the numbers won’t cut it

Particularly harsh on Pinnock as he got outmuscled by Vardy against Leicester and (rightly) didn’t get a free kick but similar grappling four days later and he concedes a pen

Was the Pinnock yellow also influenced by the fact it was an incredibly soft penalty that would never have been given by VAR if the ref had let play go on, and a red would have been ridiculous double punishment? Arguably two bad decisions but maybe ref thought they evened out.
