Yeah, I always wait till I’m a block or so away and never give my name or number, but it’s definitely a worse experience. But for what it’s worth, I have seen a lot more tickets given out two cars. I’ve called about that I used to with find it fix it.

Yeah it’s really lame, and also loses the location information for SDOT to identify hotspots (unless I’m somehow underestimating departments coordination here).

FWIW it takes exactly 44 seconds on the non-emergency line before you can hit 8 and then 1 to get a human

Which I guess goes to show that our revealed preference was against cottage housing

No idea if this actually matches the typology of cottage housing, but I’ve always liked the looks of these: www.madronacompany.com/miller-mews....

However when we were looking for a place, one of these was available but the lack of garage / basement didn’t work for our needs.

Very much not the point of your post but have you had any luck calling the non-emergency line? Physical solutions are definitely needed here but in my experience they are pretty responsive when I’ve called for cars blocking curb cuts.

Looks like we might see some more protection here soon though!

FWIW I did get a response from Councilmember Hollingsworth. Even if i disagree on some policy point with her, I appreciate the effort her office appears to take to respond to emails.

This frustrates me so much. This is literally walking distance to downtown and extremely close to several direct bus routes to downtown. Why draw an artificial line here??

Do you have a link? Would like to email her about this.

Done!
September 11, 2025 at 10:27 PM
Yeah would love to get in touch with whoever made these and put up more!

We’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas.

“When we asked Joe Mallahan, a candidate to the right of Wilson whose votes would theoretically go to Harrell, if asked if he was voting for Harrell, he responded “fuck no” and said he’s supporting Wilson.”

Whoever was doing the landscaping really nailed it there. Props to wsdot.

Finally! Hope we can make it a successful pilot
April 22, 2025 at 4:44 PM
That is just purely based on my experience through RAMROD / lurking on various cycling groups. Would love to be wrong here!
April 10, 2025 at 2:34 PM
Pretty much. One of the best rides I’ve ever done was when they closed sunrise in mid October and we had a break of sunny weather. I’ve heard it can be dicey in the spring because parks employees might be coming up / down and not expecting bikes. Definitely a sub-par substitute but worth exploring!

Unfortunately the park supervisor seems fairly anti-cyclist / anti car-impact (see RAMROD difficulties last year). There are some great opportunities for riding to chinook pass and sunrise if you time it right with plowing though! And
mt baker closes the road for an annual ride for a 1/2 day.
