Congratulations to Semia Gharbi from Tunisia, a winner of the Goldman Prize. Her work held an Italian firm to account for shipping garbage

Her work with other African experts was also 1 of the first studies I read for @theexamination.org on lead poisoning

When with @icij.org, I combined the worlds of Drag Race with illicit financial flows

With @theexamination.org, I'll do the same for our focus on how firms + governments make us sick

Excited to see @willreport.bsky.social's latest on how "science" helps push the idea maple syrup can prevent disease

Update!

Courts in South Dakota + Georgia have also allowed the IRS to probe Americans who may have used Trident Trust to evade taxes

The IRS declaration is a masterclass for journalists and others interested in learning how the rich and powerful can hide money 🤓

Years after we published the Pandora Papers investigation @icij.org, the IRS has obtained a wide-ranging order for information about Americans who may have used Trident Trust to evade taxes. The US govt is also looking to get its hands on records from South Dakota.

Thank you to the @nationalpress.bsky.social for recognizing this investigation by @examinationnews.bsky.social news and our partners in Ghana and Cameroon. More to come!
NPF judges gave a special honorable mention to
@examinationnews.bsky.social for an investigation by
@willfitzgibbon.bsky.social, Christian Locka and Emmanuel Dogbevi into the human harm caused by the battery recycling industry in Africa. Well done!

The roof is coming off the battery recycling plant in Congo.

More than 1 year after I travelled here to investigate lead poisoning, the government ordered the plant to close.

Big question remains - who will clean up after years of lead pollution?
