Whatever the legal status of various parts of the network now or in the future, major investment is what will improve it & that means investment strategies aimed at creating a network like numerous other countries have managed. Kick all the profit making elements out, specially Branson shaped ones.

Might spook a few centrists but obviously the network needs to taken into state control. I've been in countries that are classed as developing nations with public transport networks that makes ours look like a cruel joke.

Though best to remember the Chinese notion that their public can change policies but not the party, whereas we can, (could), change party but not the policies. Which is what got us here.

I have friends who've officially observed Russian elections, & lived in Moscow myself for 4 of them. They look very much like western elections, all the same trappings are there. As in soviet times the election becomes a ritual to be observed, a show of fealty for some, just more noise to most.

Or Russians have been giving us since about 2012. At least we'll get to see whether the angry flag people on twitter really would stand up if they lived there.
