One of the things I love about Blades is that combat works like everything else. There's no special rules or coconut clunky initiative, just use the players actions and make moves where applicable back at them

The differences between a 3 and a 4 are enough that you know that it can be an uphill battle and will help you know what to play. If someone is running Smothering Tithe, Rhystic Study and multiple of the best black tutors that gives them a lot of good advantage.

I've found myself unintentionally calling them tiers which flows naturally and fits pretty well.

So far most of the called have been seniors. A good mix of points of view, so that's good to see. The congressman is fully aligned with the current administration. It's disappointing, I wouldn't expect a republican to fully oppose the President but I hoped for at least some unique views from him.

It's about time! So many other cards have been getting alternate artwork at least when they're featured in a precon but Sun Titan hasn't gotten much love

Powered by the Apocalypse games, namely Avatar Legends, have done a pretty good job of facilitating these types of connections honestly

I've moved to a lot more narrative focused RPGs and I don't remember the last time I had to worry about spell slots. Some games have moves that can be used once per session or scene, but that's a lot less clunky to keep track of.

It's just session 0 so some things may change, but I'm really looking forward to playing him.

He's mute in his civilian ID, because his power is tied to his speech, it releases energy - usually destructive. He's able to redirect the energy to amplify his voice and make light auras as he speaks, but its always noticeable. So he only speaks in hero mode.

TBH depends on the system and the goals of the story. If it's a dark and gritty tale, then combat should be risky. But if it's a bunch of teenagers being superheroes after class, then you should have the moments you feel powerful to build you up, so that it can all be taken out from under you.

I might put PBTA and Forged in the Dark in a Firefox category. Still big, but definitely different than Chromium. But that may be my bias of those being my favorites and not being an apple guy

First started playing in 2021 with D&D 5e, played some Alternity 2e, Cyberpunk Red, and Call of Cthulhu short games the GM ran within a year or so of that. First time I ran a non-D&D game was early 2023 with Avatar Legends and then I got super into indie RPGs especially #PBTA and #FitD

Happy to help! Back when I ran D&D I'd always throw players for a loop by asking for Charisma stealth checks when they try to blend in with a crowd or other combinations based on what they described

My tables don't often do romance between PCs and especially not using sex to manipulate each other as you can do in SCUP through sex moves. While in Urban Shadows, they're not specific to sex and are more about character growth and relationships.

Even with a group that has good trust with each other, if I were running Urban Shadows or The Sword The Crown and the Unspeakable Power (SCUP), I'd probably consider x cards because of the existence of intimate moves between the players.

The proactive ones are still good in a group that plays often if you're getting into new subject matter. And lots of GMs use their own intuition like x cards, watching player reactions and going from there. X cards just take the question out of it and can free up some GM brain power.
