"using machine learning to cut apart a voice actor's recording into phonemes and reassemble it into something they never said is clearly 'generative AI' and clearly evil! it's obviously taking work from real VAs!"

alright then, you got the pitchforks ready for miku?

it is so fucking backwards that the punishment for homicidally reckless driving is "a decade in the torture nexus! ...but you can still drive a car again after, nbd"

what if we just took away reckless drivers licenses forever instead of hoping the abstract threat of jail if they fuck up stops them?

"phew, that was a close one! now the children we've failed to provide homes for will sleep on the fucking street, so if they die of an overdose, those poor hotel staff don't have to worry about any liability. we saved the city!"

the DHS here is saying "sure, we'll ban placing foster kids with no other options in hotels, and maybe hospitals" and then the big reveal is.

"homeless shelter" is considered a valid placement.

what the fuck is this?

why is there 0 mention of any effort to find more qualified foster parents?

these are my settings, i have this thing where i love assistance but i want it to be visually silent. don't assist me until i explicitly ask, otherwise show me clean and un-annotated code and don't interfere in my typing.

except paren/brace completion, that can stay.

PDSls lets you view the labels generated by a labeler and filter by DID

you got a !suspend, which i believe are the temporary variety, as opposed to !takedown which are used for permas

bluesky is incorporated as a public benefit corporation, "we care about things other than making money" is built into the legal foundation of the company. why are people *upset* that they don't want to cynically capture their attention for profit? lmao

question: can i competently fry tofu?

answer: i can fry it to look beautiful, be mid according to my tofu-loving husband, and a "permissible substance" according to my tofu-ambivalent self

this is true. but, more can than they might think, which is why i try to mention it from time to time.

especially because you may be able to draw from a 401k. many of us were *formerly* decently paid.

mine was $21k, probably in the ballpark of $26k once you factor in incidental expenses.

i use pretty straightforwad gitflow and it's still way easier to keep track of if i have a visible graph, especially when dealing with squashes and rebases (which you should be doing in gitflow.) the original gitflow explainer used a graphical representation!
