AI is not, as techno-libertarians would like you to believe, an act of God to which society must adapt. It’s an experiment a very small band of very rich people decided to work upon the rest of us. And they have their reasons. Let’s not pretend otherwise.

A*** M**** fully worked with OpenAI in the past and quickly carved out a normalizing current wherein people ask themselves, “But is it maybe OK to feed a student paper to this AI? Is it OK to not disclose that I used AI to co-write this paper?”

I see these posts, and I’m just taken aback by the celebration they receive. That anyone would find meaningful pedagogy by working with AI peddlers from Ed Tech (itself numerous solutions to problems that don’t exist) just blows me away.
