What part of the eye roll indicated that a thank you was the correct response? Even if it was a joke, it clearly wasn’t received well…

The majority of service members have support jobs and rarely have contact with firearms. And the ones with combat jobs aren’t deployed all the time. The benefits of housing, health care, a livable wage, financial support for family, and the respect that comes with service is preferable to people yea

Deprogrammed. I’m not asking you to change your mind or trying to argue one way or the other. All I ask is that you keep in mind the nuance that gets lost when you paint with a broad brush and rely on assumptions. If I misunderstood something in your reasoning please correct! 9/9

Who joined the military knowing the full truth. It just feels hypocritical to me. Yeah you’ll find horrible evil people everywhere you look but the US military has 7 different branches that all do different things. That’s millions of people who are potentially brainwashed with no hope of getting 8/

Liberals to not dehumanize and extend empathy towards. So according to that logic, service members who aren’t aware of politics because they’re too busy to engage and are never put in a position where they had to confront their beliefs should be met with the same hostility hostility as the bigots 7/

escape gang violence. It’s not just people who can’t afford healthcare or want an education. But even if it was, my biggest issue with your reasoning is that service members are equally likely to be as brainwashed (if not more so) by the constant propaganda as the same people you were imploring 6/

notice. And unlike in a civilian job where the worst thing that can happen if you refuse to do what your boss says is being fired, it is a serious illegal offense for service members to not follow orders. So even if a brainwashed soldier realizes they’ve been lied to and wants to get out its not 4/

The insinuation that you can just quit the military whenever you want like a civilian job is also wrong. When you joint one of the branches of the military you sign a legally binding contract to follow the legal orders from the president for a set amount of time. You can’t just put in your 2 week 3/

To you as an outsider, it’s blatantly obvious that the entire purpose of the US military is to spread imperialism, but we’re taught from birth that the military exists to protect America’s freedom and democracy. We’re taught that America’s military is mainly to fight against terrorism 2/

I’ve been struggling to put my thoughts into words to explain why your morality makes sense to me but your logic doesn’t. My main issue is that it seems like your reasoning for why people who join the US military don’t deserve any sympathy is based on some incorrect assumptions you might have 1/
