Rewilding a small part of Ireland and a large part of myself. Off-grid, planting veg, sowing words. Solace in nature, poetry and art. Creating a sanctuary for, and from, the world.

Recorded another 253 Irish Marsh Orchids Dactylorhiza kerryensis var. Occidentalis yesterday in Belmullet Town in a small meadow strip at the entrance to Achadh estate.

Credit to @wildtee.bsky.social for this count Seány boy was absolutely zonked from the Sun and heat.

Is there anything more wondrous than the sight of 50+ frog heads glinting and spawning in the sunlight?! Unfortunately they all dunked when I tried to get a photo, so have a spawn pic as consolation! #frogspawn #ponds #frogs

I’m honoured to be part of this brilliant initiative. There are so many non-farming landowners who need encouragement and advice when it comes to doing the best thing for nature. Working with @whittledaway.bsky.social was inspiring and a pleasure.
Launching! 🚀

Today I'm launching a new service for landowners in Ireland who want to rewild their land. I hope this will be the start of a network that will promote rewilding in this country - the time is right!

Storm Darragh decided to give my outbuilding a bit of extra ventilation last night, which means that my outside loo is a bit more outside than I’d like! Luckily, as I’m off-grid, I haven’t lost power like other Irish residents. #StormDarragh #offgrid #Mayo

I love my regular tea and cake ‘therapy’ meet ups with my wonderful friend @fionapondsandtrees.bsky.social
She’s undoubtedly the bird-whisperer of the West of Ireland!

First job of the day was to sweep the solar panels. Very crunchy greetings to you all from Co. Mayo, and stay safe on those roads. #Offgrid #Mayo #Ireland

If you bring central London to a halt in order to campaign against catastrophic climate change then you're a "barmy" eco "fanatic" who deserves to be locked up.

If you do the same to hang on to your multimillion pound inheritance tax exemption then you're a brave freedom fighter defying the odds

I love wildlife, but preferably not in my pillow. Mousey was safely relocated outside, much to the disgust of my cat. So far my cottage trap and release tally is 5 rodents, 2 devil’s coach horse beetles and a blue tit.
